Health Tips for Preparing for Spring

Health Tips for Preparing for Spring

Mother nature is coming out of winter's dormancy, and while this is a beautiful time of the year, it can also be challenging for our bodies, so I thought I'd send some tips to help you make the transition from winter to summer:

  • Limit (or eliminate) your intake of processed foods.

  • Start eating more fresh vegetables and fruit again

  • Start your mornings off with a light stretching exercise like yoga or tai qi.

  • Take every opportunity to get outdoors on warm days and exercise.

  • Consume sour food and drinks. According to TCM, sour flavors are associated with the Liver system, which is most active at this time of year, and a big player in making the transition from winter to summer.

  • Make time for some gentle detoxing. One way of doing this is using Apple Cider Vinegar and Honey:  You can make a powerful, all-natural detoxifying beverage by mixing together one tablespoon of unfiltered apple cider vinegar, one tablespoon of honey, and 12 ounces of water. The vinegar works to stabilize your body's internal pH level, while the honey works to regulate your blood sugar levels. When combined together, it offers a superb cleansing and detoxifying beverage that's perfect for the spring season.

  • Seek acupuncture treatments (especially if you struggle with spring allergies).

I hope these ideas will help you transition into spring, and I look forward to the opportunity to help you stay healthy.
